|I've seen this discussion enough times in an html newsgroup... Here's
|some more reliable info:

|
|(btw, I sometimes tell lynx to claim to be "Mozilla 12", or something
|equally ridiculus, with the result that some sites that otherwise say
|"No Lynx users! This is an Advanced web site!" simply lift their hats
|and say "Welcome!". Apparently they're not as "advanced" as they
|think... or maybe it's Lynx that's more advanced than they think...)

I've got the Win32 version of Lynx installed on my 'puter and I can certify
that all of my sites are fully Lynx friendly, apart from the framesets which
you obviously have to look at the frames separately.
Lynx is a nice browser... shame my 'puter can't run console window proggys
while I'm online. (it just kinda dies on me)
And VK, for my personal web server site (the one you sometimes look at on my
IP address to see if it's me on the chat!) it picks out certain things from
the User-Agent thingy to find out what browser you are using. If you make
lynx give out 'm/4.0 MSIE' it covers everything that it uses to decide that
you are using ie4. similarly Mozilla/4.0 is enough for netscape. It uses the
browser version number to decide on the capabilities of your browser and if
you have less that a version 2 browser it gives you a no-frames version.
Anyway, this is irrelevant and off-topic, so I`ll shut up now.
