It's been proven BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT. The theory seems to fit
electricity's properties perfectly. Maybe it's not absolutely proven, but it
works so well (i.e. it predicts everything that really happes perfectly)
that it doesn't really matter if it's proven or not. The same can not be
said for gravity, though. We don't have a clue about gravity at all, no
theories that really help explain it. Except of course for Superstring
Theory (that's another thread by itself!). Perhaps when Superstring Theory
is 'finished', we'll be able to have anti-gravity things, teleporters, time
travel (!)... But until then, it might be best to leave all the serious
speculating to the scientist.

Also, the lifter needs ~15,000V (from memory) of electricity to work. If you
scaled this 'lifter' up by a factor of 10 in all directions, would you still
only need 15,000V? Or would you need 150,000V? Or even 15,000,000V? It
starts to get impractical.
