As long as you were discussing "how to present ascii art in html
documents" you were at least somewhat on-topic.

When you started to discuss "how to make html documents that 100% of the
browsers can read" you became off-topic. A more suitable place for
*that* discussion is comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html (and I think
you might enjoy that group - it is very "flammable").
