How things happened in this case:

1. JRO posts tutorial.  [1]

2. VK posts comment about one detail in JRO's tutorial being Bad Advice.
   That's five lines of text, including a suggestion of how to improve 
   the tutorial. Followed by an ascii table.  [2]

3. JRO replies with two similar messages, one to VK's email [3], and one
   to the group [4].

   The email version is 66 lines long (not counting headers, ascii table
   and sig). The Usenet version is 53 lines long (not counting headers,
   quoted text, ascii table and sig).

   Both contain long rants about what newbies like and don't like, and
   insults and insinuations focusing on VK.

   The email version is later posted to the group on Krogg's request.

Two 60 line responses to a five-line comment! And *I* "initiated
the argument"? Right! If you scream loud enough and long enough
somebody might actually believe that.

(Several times later in the thread we can observe the same
"explosiveness" in your responses.)

I'm not sure it's _legal_ to do so without explicit permission in
each individual case.

Huh? I'm not the one over-reacting and writing replies that are
ten times as big as the text they're responding to. I'm not the
one sending both email and Usenet versions of the same message.
I'm not the one using name-calling as an argumenting technique.

Can't you seem to get used to the idea, that this is an unmoderated
newsgroup. The only thing you can do if you don't like me is to ignore
me. The same way I can ignore you. I usually don't. I like your
cartoons. Sometimes I disagree with something you write. Sometimes I
respond to something you write. Live with it.
