Maybe not! I think Brandon started a chain reaction here! Thanks
everyone. It's always nice to see people appreciate my ASCII art
even though I don't even consider myself an artist.

The only reason there has been a large volume of my work posted
recently is that I was reposting art that I had done between Dec.
'93 and Dec. '95 because there was a good chance that my Internet
account would not be valid after March 15, '96. I have just been
informed that through some special arrangements my term contract is
now being extended for 1 year, so I will keep my Internet account.
Yeah!! :-)

Adam Moore mentioned he was impressed with the quality of my
works. Well, when I started ASCII drawing I quickly noticed that
these criteria were important to me: simplicity, cleanliness,
clarity and uniformity of shading. As a learning experience, I
tried smoothing the contours of other people's pictures and even
though everyone else were using M's, like in the famous "Meriday in
the morning" ASCII picture, I felt that using an '8' was a better
choice IMHO because it had a brightness comparable to the other
characters I was using to smooth out the pictures: b, d, a, Y, P,
etc. It just felt right and it looked good too, so it became my
style.

Most people don't know this, but my "career" as an ASCII artist was
greatly influenced by 2 nude pictures that I worked on at the very
beginning. The first one was probably a GIF conversion that
someone had posted a long time ago and which had been recirculated
many times. Most of the picture was made up of comas, colons and
semi-colons. It was quite a challenge to massage her ASCII body
into something better while experimenting with contour smoothing
and trying to find my own style. Nonetheless, it turned out very
well and I decided to give her a bikini. Once that one was
finished I converted the picture of Meriday to my style and
eventually gave her a bikini too. I don't know if there is such a
thing as an artistic turn-on, but if there is then I know exactly
how it feels. I just couldn't stop working on those pictures. I
would stay after work, skip supper, come in on the weekends, etc.
It was like life had no meaning, except to finish those pictures!
The rest is history... :-)

I will be posting this art shortly as well as a few nudes, etc. and
a few old posts describing my techniques, so stay tuned...

The pictures I post are at their best when printed with a
'Line Printer 16.67 cpi' font or equivalent.
