It doesn't seem weird at all. Nerdboy's words frame him and his final
line actually points over neatly to Fanboy. When I look at it,
Fanboy's "Um" in the middle of that stream does show that he is trying
to interrupt Nerdboy.

Just because it's in other comics doesn't make it any more acceptable.
Either the drawing is selfexplanatory or it is not. In this case, in
context, it is clear that Fanboy is laughing at Nerdboy.

And THAT is my point exactly (no pun intended). Why should you start
now? The extraneous *point* *laugh* detracts from Nerdboy's "OK, don't
answer that", which is the punchline (at least I thought that was the
punchline)
