I tested the site in Opera and some Mozilla based browsers (e.g. 
Firebird).

Specifying font sizes is bad, imho.
You can't possibly foresee the different environments your visitors use.
It's much better style to let them choose their own fonts and font sizes 
in their browsers preferences.

I thought of that. However, since I drew my pictures in 'Courier New' 
(and think that they look best with that font), I decided to let the 
ASCII pictures display with the same font.
For people who don't have that font installed I specified the 
alternative 'monospaced', which I think is perfectly acceptable 
behaviour.

That may be a nice feature if you maintain a site which is visited 
regularly. However, it's just a gimmick and I don't think there'd be 
many people who would appreciate this.
