If it's against the rules right now, then go ahead and 
enforce the rule.  But it's a stupid rule.  The game 
would be better without it.

There are similar rules in hockey.  First, there's also 
an "offside":  when the attacker is past the opponents' 
blue line before the puck.  Second, there's the 
two-line pass:  when an attacker is beyond the center 
(red) line, and his teammate passes to him from behind 
his own blue line.  But there's no "moving" line, as in 
soccer.

The National Hockey League is considering eliminating 
the two-line pass rule.  I think they should; the 
remaining offside rule is perfectly adequate by itself.
