My Penguin English Dictionary says: 1 rant /rant/ vi to talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner ~ vt to declaim bombastically [obs D ranten, randen] - ranter n, rantingly adv 2 rant n (a) bombastic extravagant speech 'obs' means obsolete - so the word is no longer in use, which explains why I can't find it in the dictionary.
