Yeah, I do: it's the negation symbol in formal logic. (Not that I know a
lot about that but I know the symbol :-)

(Btw, I had to wrap your message manually to see what I was responding
to in the message compose window.)

I use Topaz New font and it looks like an exclamation mark for me. My
favorite hex
editor (MS Developer) says its code is 172 (0xAC).

And your favourite hex editor is correct. I was using the Windows character map
program, and it uses Alt + 0188 in almost every font that contains the
character at all. The only exception I could find was the 'Terminal' font which
showed it as Alt + 0172.

Using a DOS hex editor to look at it, it is indeed 0xAC. I guess Gates & Co.
believe that "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds", and feel
character mapping consistently is foolish. Go figure.

See, now if I could draw, I would have here, a picture of a hobgoblin, a small
mind, Bill Gates, and the fool from Waite & Smith's Rider Tarot Deck to
illustrate the point. Not that I'm hinting or anything like that, you
understand.

Well it's not Dutch and I'm not sure it's American either.
I brought the damn computer from France (so maybe it's French then).
Hhhhum... Elementary my dear Watson. :D
