Im having some trouble with my fonts. This looked much better in my
notepad. Why is it so different when I cut and paste in email? It is
supposed to be courier 10.

Seemed just fine to me. The fact that different fonts make pictures
look different is something you can't avoid with ascii art. Even just
changing the size is enough. I have the same font in my editor and my
terminal, but the terminal font is 10-point while I generally use 8.
When I paste my pics to tin, they look as if they'd been printed on a
balloon and inflated. :)

Different aspect ratios can make a big difference, especially with
circular shapes. So do font size, line spacing and boldness. If I view
my ascii in Multiview, using the same 8-point font, they look like
they'd been cut in slices. It seems Multiview adds a one pixel gap
between lines, to "improve readability". Really horrible with solid
style pics. Those, like many largish ascii pics, look great in this
6-point font I have.

Telnet in my computer class has something like 10-point Terminal. My
pictures often look horribly garbled when I read this group through
it, even though I try to avoid font differences. Many pics, like
some of Joan's, on the other hand look better that way.

In short, you can try to minimize the effect, but you can't avoid it.

BTW, here's a list of some font differences I've encountered:

 * serif/sans-serif: Need I say more?
 * ~ ^ and * can be in the middle or near the top.
 * @ is squarish in some fonts. Darkness also varies greatly.
 * ` and ' are mirror images is some fonts, not in others.
 * """ makes for a decent line in some fonts, in others it looks like
   a row of teeth.
 * # $ % and & also vary significantly in size and darkness.
 * The lines in = can be almost together or far apart.
 * < and > can be as tall as (), or closer to =. In some fonts they
line up with /\, but not in others.
 * . and , vary is size, position and darkness.
 * The above applies to : and ; as well. Also, the separation between
   the dots varies.
 * In some fonts A is like an upwards arrow, in others like an archway
or an upside-down U, in yet others like a tiny house.
 * The sides of V can be straight, or they can begin vertical and have
a kink in the middle. Same with Y and v.
 * Q R U O P A (see above) S D G J C and B are round in many fonts, but
   almost square in some.
 * The sides or W may or may not be vertical.

It's a wonder this thing works at all..

You have used some characters that can vary a lot between fonts. Here is is
again with a less varying character for the top of the roof:

                  ,,
           _____ .<>.
          / \ '` __
   [ldb} /_______\ ($$)
   | | @ @ | ($S$S)
   | | [] | )(`
  -'-----'---''--'---'`--

There`s not a lot that can be done about the other characters, and in some
fonts (I tried five) the slashes don`t match. This is a problem that just
has to be lived with - and most people can use their imagination to stick
together 'holes' that certain fonts leave.

Free Agent defaults to couoire 8 but any fixed font should work fine.

Neither do I... that would be just silly for plain text. :)
