Smiley Dictionary On My Web Page

I posted one of the more common smiley dictionaries on one of
my web pages, along with some other fun stuff.
Go to:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/berton_corson
And then select where it says to look at the smiley dictionary.

But one thing I noticed is the web browser I normally use
(Internet Explorer 3.0) is interpreting some of the < and >
signs as html code, thus screwing-up how it's displayed.
I changed some of these signs to ( and ) signs, but still it
might be better to just save the whole page as html text and
view it with a text browser.

The < can be changed to &lt; and the > can be changed to &gt;
There are other special characters which I can't remember for sure,
but I think they're &amp; for & and &quot; for "

If you change the page extension from .html to .txt, browsers should know
that it's to be displayed as text.  You lose the fancy stuff like colours,
titles and links though, of course.

What I do on my page (http://www.fiction.org/www/stuff/) is include an
html version (which changes text to white on black, for one thing) and a
text version.
