Greetings.

I've come up with a tiny dragon that fits well into a sig. If you'd like
to use it feel free. If it does make it's way into some sort of ascii art
archive, please credit DeBray Bailey < me ;) >.

If you want your name mentioned in your signature then why don't you include
it with your signature? Geez - what next? Do you want people to mail you?
Then add your email address, too! Actually, that's what signatures are for:
Name and address. Not URLs for dragons. Sheesh!

There, a proper 4x80 signature complete with name and address:

Remember - a signature is *not* complete if name or address is missing!

Sven, excuse me if I'm being a bit too crude here, but GET A FUCKING LIFE
and stay out of other people's! Let them do what they want to do with
their sigs, and if you don't think it's proper, bite me! Geez, Mr.
Manners of the internet here... This ain't a reform school or anything.
'Proper' my ass. I've never changed anything I do because the tight-asses
like yourself think it ain't 'proper', and I'm not about to.

Pardon my French and apologies to anyone I offended... I'm kinda steamed
over guys like this trying to tell us how we should express ourselves.

: Sven

What did he write that sounded like "Sven, please critique my sig on the
basis of your warped fixation on syntax and conformity." A sig is not
complete if the name or address is missing? Who says? I notice there's no
address in your sig, so WTF are you talking about?

All my sigs have both my name and my address.
That's what a sig is for after all.

I did not say "all my posts have a signature".

My Usenet signature (and that's what we were speaking of)
always starts with the sigdashes line. Did you see any?

Your name at the bottom of a post qualifies as a sig, dashes or no.

This just erased all my doubts about how anal this guy is. His regular
sig includes a LINE COUNT...

Most people appreciate creativity in sigs, even if it does take it over 4
lines. I've gotten more compliments than complaints about mine.

>Sven <----What the fuck is that if it's not a signature?

By definition, this isn't a .sig. A .sig is a file that you append to the
end of a post or a letter. If I just sign like this:
DLW
which I sometimes do, that's not a .sig.
If I put my .sig file like this: (requires appending a file-not just typing)

-- __ '--'
   ' |__) (__| |"' |"' |_/ | /| | /| iampara
' ' ' ' | .__| |__ |__ | | |/ | |/ | graph <DARWIN><
  ' ' -Donnie Lee Waters UofL 175 ^ ^
 ' ' -dlw...@homer.louisville.edu !

then that's a .sig
I'm not defending his anality (is that a word?). I'm just saying that in my
opinion he's technically correct.
I'm also under the impression that this whole disagreement is over not what
you think it is. ;)
For instance, in the "four line and sigdashes" thread, Sven isn't saying
"Never have more than four lines." He's saying "If you have more than four
lines, it's not a .sig--it's an appendix." Which, I think, is true by
the definition of .sig.

-- __ '--'
   ' |__) (__| |"' |"' |_/ | /| | /| iampara
' ' ' ' | .__| |__ |__ | | |/ | |/ | graph <DARWIN><
  ' ' -Donnie Lee Waters UofL 175 ^ ^
 ' ' -dlw...@homer.louisville.edu !

PS--I personally don't need more than four lines, so I guess I'm biased!
I don't mind long a long appendix at the end of a post, though, either. :)

OK,i want to disagree.
SIG stands for Signature, and last time I checked a signature was simply
a mark,stamp,logo,or design that identifies a person.

Nope, it's not my regular sig - it's an educative sig that I only use for
people who I don't expect to be able to count. And you seem to qualify:

That's six lines, Felix. Btw: "6 > 4" => This addendum is no signature.
It's a bit small for a dragon - but a nice pic for a addendum anyway.

Proof by example - I always like this attitude with folks. So easy to satify.
It probably takes just a few examples people to convince Felix of *anything*.
