Problems with installing the GUI for figlet

Hope this isn't too OT for you lot..

..I've tried to get the dos GUI for figlet running with dos figlet, but it keeps
asking for a file, fig-gui.ini.  I'm nearly yelling at the PC, 'It's RIGHT
THERE!' <point>, because the file _is_ there, the gui just isn't seeing it, and
it's making me sad. :~(  boohoo.

Where would I find Large, Very large, and HUGE fonts for figlet?

Also - regarding the ASL for Love, the right hand with the 2nd and 3rd fingers
down, that was mentioned and displayed here.  In .au and I dare say in other
countries the same 'hand gesture' is used at rock and roll concerts, and AFAIK
is supposed to mean 'Satan' or 'YOUREALLYROCCCKKK!' or words to that effect.

I remember a section of a graphic novel I read ages ago 'Slaine - The Horned
God' that referred to a similar gesture, the sign of light, or something, that
would have looked like this, from the front...

That Horned God GN was great.. Simon Bisley artwork.. the script was based on a
number of presumably authentic 'oirish' myths and legends, Tir Na Nog etc..

try putting the 'ini' file into the c:\windows directory ?
... i don't have the app. yor running ... but that often works

AFAIK
the thumb is splayed to the left here ... if it points forward or grips
the second and third fingers ... it _then_ makes a three-horned devil

OK, I think (quite likely actually) that you have downloaded version1.08
from a site other than my site which means that you have the version of the
zip file with the dodgy filenames. Rename them as follows...

GUI108.EXE ... FIG-GUI.EXE
FIG-GUI108.TXT ... FIG-GUI.TXT
FIG-GUI.INI ... FIG-GUI.INI

Yes, the error message is wrong. It is actually talking about FIG-GUI.TXT.

Version 1.09 with this and more fixed is coming soon... and the version with
the correct filenames is available from
http://voices.vossnet.co.uk/a/atkins/fdg.htm

Be that as it may, and be the response of a fellow Internetter as it may
(that it is an ancient symbol), ASL took it from neither of these sources.
Rather, it is simply a combination of the ASL Manual Alphabet letters I,
L, and Y (the initial letters of "I love you"). I'd assume that the
rockers stole it from one fo the other two sources -- ASL or the ancients.

Btw, Auslan (Australian Sign Language) has a manual alphabet completely
different from ASL's (though Auslan's is similar to BSL's -- British Sign
Language -- I've learned), so don't try to verify what I'm saying by
asking your local deaf person how to fingerspell ILY.  :)  Hth.

Btw, the sign is for "I love you", not for "love".
