�This is a free and unmoderated newsgroup and people can post

 I aggree altho' I would like to see a little less spamage..

Send a friendly email to the Sysadmin at your Access Site and ask 
what they can do to reduce the spam level by using filters.

The increase in spam has been due to the Anti-Spam people having
a moratorium on stopping spam - they want the Access Sites to
do the job instead of leaving it all to the volunteers.

The moratorium has ended already.  I had a URL for the page with the
announcement but in my lack of foresight neglected to keep it :(

True, but some of the volunteer Anti-Spammers have said they are not
planning to turn their anti-spam filters back on again...they have
got tired of being left by Net Access Providers to try to do all the
filtering for Usenet and its newsgroups by the Net Access Providers.

The bottom line is that the Net Access Providers really are the
people with the means to kill both incoming and outgoing spam at
their own access sites but too many leave the job to others.

Meanwhile the Net's users just scream about it all to everyone and
hope someone somewhere sometime will solve the problem real soon now.
