.ans files on unix

I'm trying to display some .ans files on a unix machine. When I cat the
file everything comes out fine but I cannot escape out of it. It will not
return a prompt.

Im using tcsh on a bsd machine. I've tried ^c , ^d and everything else i
can think of. Is there a character that I should put at the end of the
.ans file to make it return the prompt?

I too feel your pain.  I use a unix for a school account.  CaT is one of
the hardest things to get stopped once it is started.  Just a kwestion,
are you using "cat -v"?  Caust if you are, thats your problem.  The "-v"
tells it to print all nonprintable characters.  Do a "man cat" and read up
on it.

   Your best bet is to end the text file with an escape code followed by [0m
which /should/ turn off all ansi codes. 

   I.e. ^[[0m

   The Escape character is Ascii code 27.

so it would be <Esc>[0m
