There are different animation techniques. The newer animations use
javascript to animate text in a textarea. You don't need any special
plugins, just your ordinairy browser with Javascript turned on. llizard
has some on her homepage:

Hell I dunno Frank, what I do know is that you can view some using javascript in
your webbrowser.

This URL should be viewable with your netscape-browser with the javascript
turned on.

HTTP://www1.lunatech.com/~ojoshiro/

Then click the link to the ascii-anim.
Under Linux I usually put a "home" char in the file so you can view it with
'cat'.

No special software required...

entitled 'Advanced Ascii Animation' for Ns4,Ie4 .. and tell me what you
think ... i'd really appreciate it


if you wish to make some of the standard black and white anims... there
are a couple of generators around that can make the task a little easier
for you as follows :-
