For one thing, the Swastika used to be a symbol of peace before the Nazi's Bastardized it, and for another, ascii art is ascii art, chances are if you read this group long enough you're going to be offended by something. If you don't like it, why not start a "alt.ascii-art.pro-censorship" newsgroup? -Nana On Fri, 8 Aug 1997, Mike wrote: > Is that a swastika?? I really don't care, and usually I don't get offended by all the annoying assholes. But when some fucking moron goes around trucking a swastika, i usually get pretty pissed off. And I'm usually a nice guy. But I really don't want to have to deal with bigots. Try going to a different newsgroup to talk about nazis. Just my opinion though.

To those people and their families who were unfortunate enough to have had their lives shredded by Hitler, it will always be a symbol of horror. Most people who did not have the original peace symbol as a part of their normal lives, and who have any compassion will see it the same way. However, >chances are if you read this group long enough you're going to be offended by >something. This is the reality, and the net being what it is, a person could spend many unproductive hours being angry and offended. One has to make a choice - either move on and learn to live with it, or unhook the modem. Alan My real address is alanp @ netcom.ca (without spaces) but I'm sick of email spam.

People should not get offended unlesse the messages are directly meant to someone. Even "bad" people have the right to use the internet, right? :) I hope not to be offending anyone with this, I really don't like what this swastica symbol stands for, but ... This is the symbol Hitler used ... 88 8888888888 88 88 88 88 88 88 888888888888888888 88 88 88 88 88 88 8888888888 88 and this is the peace symbol I believe you were refering to ... 88888888 88 88 88 88 88 88 888888888888888888 88 88 88 88 88 88 88888888 If I'm not mistaken this was a tibetan symbol and tibetan priests or Moncs (sp?) predicted the doom hitler would create, and his own final, longer before he has became known to the world for his atrocities and principals, because of it's misuse of this symbol. The wings have to be directed left to be considered a symbol of anything good, peace in this case. I like this last one much better :) -- .:~~--__ __--~~:.
