I (the original poster) had trouble with it too. Someone sent it to me from a
chat room & here is what I had to do to see it right.
Key it up in .WPS form (word processor)
Then change the font to New Times Roman.
Some other software other than WPS may work but that was the one I used.
Your right----Not a great font.
But apparently that was the one the person in the chat room was using.

 Now that I tried to look harder - should this be some Calvin-like dude?
I still encourage you to only use ASCII characters. And now I did my own
chart-file *smirks*  Here it goes:

                 ,---------------------.
                | ASCII character table |
                 `---------------------'

      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The numbers show you the hex-code of
  `.  0123456789ABCDEF   the characters (e.g. the letter 'C' has
    `,----------------.  the code 43).
  2x | !"#$%&'()*+,-./|
  3x |0123456789:;<=>?| Only the characters that you can find
  4x |@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO| in this box are called ASCII, you
  5x |PQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^_|  shouldn't use any other.
  6x |`abcdefghijklmno| Also you should see this as a box.
  7x |pqrstuvwxyz{|}~ | If you don't then you have to change
     `----------------'  to a fixed-width font (e.g. COURIER).

 Stick to these simple rules and you will have more fun in
                   news:alt.ascii-art

 I hope you don't be upset with my request - but hey, this is
alt.ascii-art and what would it be if you aren't using ascii for your
drawings.....

               /|  /|
              //  / || /|
       /| // //.-' /|\/ //| /|
   |\ / |/ //|  /|/ |/ |//',./ /
   | /  /  |   / | /   / |  / /
\`-.\\  |  |\| |||'   / /|//.-'/
 `~',.--'___\'_/_\\__/ /    /,./,
   /.-.-==-./     __  / /  //.  /
  |/      \=,_     _.=- \./\_.-'
           \-'`, '`--'  ,'\/
            `-.`--.  ,./  / \
   , __,.-.__ ,/ ___  /  /-./~__,.-,

 I hope I haven't missed out any non-ascii characters. It still looks a
little strange to me but hey, maybe that's just art and I'm a dumbass
;-)))
 I must start writing an non-ascii-detector-script for vim. Should be
fun, and of great help sometimes.

And here's a pure ascii version :

               /|  /|
              //  / || /|
       /| // file://_,' /|\/ file://| /|
   |\ / |/ file://|  /|/ |/ |//_,./ /
   | /  /  |   / | /   / |  / /
\`-.\\  |  |\| |||'   / /|//.-'/
 `-.,.-''^^^\'_/_\\__/ /    /,./,
   /.-.-==-./     ^^  / /  //.   /
  |/      \=,_     _.=- \./\_.-'
           \-'`, '`--'  ,'u/
            `-.`--.  ,.'  / \
     _.,.-.__ ,/ `-'  /  /-./~__,.-,

I tried to retain a "hard/cool" look by using ^ as the replacement for instead of just the
normal " .. because i think that makes it look more rounded

I reddidled his mouth to be smirking too .. but you can just change that if you'd like

BTW who is it ?

 I don't get it - what should it be?!? Maybe, if you are using only
ASCII characters it would be nicely viewable.

 E.g., the line down to the left looks like an A with a ^ above it - is
that the thing it should look like?
 You know - only the characters with cleared highbit are called ASCII
characters. To be precise you shouldn't use any character with a
hex-code other than 0x20 to 0x7E - for below 0x20 there are the
control-characters (not printable) and 0x7F is the backspace/delete. All
other characters shouldn't be used at all.... So please keep it clear
ASCII or most people would have problem viewing it - and you should also
resist posting them to a.a-a

 HTH!

Looks good in this newsgroup format---but not in a text reader. In a text
reader it is way too flat & squatty.

Also----OOOOOppps I made a mistake. Being a newbie to the series---I found out
that this isnt the boy named ASH KETCHUM.
But instead the Professor.
My mistake.

This is done in Times New Roman (ick) and these characters should be
deleted:

BTW, I DID NOT DRAW THIS! :)
