Amused by the press

I'm constantly amused by the press and their constant misunderstanding of topics
they report on.

For instance, I was reading Wired's ASCII-art article again for the second
time.  I'm sure most of you have read it,

rec.crafts.textiles.quilting, an "ally?"  Wow I never knew.  Quilting and ASCII
newsgroups unite!

What's the deal with this "jargon" ?  When was the last time anyone has used the
word "diddle" in a sentence ?  Don't they have the concept of GIFscii
backwards?  It's a .GIF to text file conversion program, not jargon (atleast the
last time I checked).  

"Geometric Article", anyone?

Maybe I'm just not hip to the lingo.

Or maybe I just need to stop ragging...

Ok,they got ya on that one.GIF2scii(note the 2) is gif>ascii but GIFscii would be a
GIFed ascii.Atleast that the way i get it.Ask Pete,he uses this technique a lot.

Was there an official interview thingie going on there?I guess we arent all "in the know",
but then again,i dont have a "NANO tm".

And they state that we haven't figured out how to make sound out of 
ascii yet either.  What does sound have to do with a picture...and 
yes, actually, people have made 'music' with ascii characters printing
on a dot matrix printer.

I will add to that, I used to have an old printer that depending on
what charactor you printed, you got about 15 different notes out of it.

I actually got a couple good tunes out of it, if anybody still has
something that reads my really really really old tapes.....

It just mainly depended on the grayscale value, darker (more ink)
letters made lower tones, while lighter (les ink) charactors made
higher tones...
