I finished this as a full fledged multimedia creation with motion, color
and sound, but unfortunately, I had to disassemble the sound, my web site
is full. (I had a gong at the intro, a drum roll at the finale, and audio
inbetween, all high quality sound occupying MBs). 

Even so, the movie file with motion and color is 759 KB large, so be
prewarned. This is already pushing the limits of online viewing, apart
from download time, clear the cache of your web browser (I assume that you
have already set the size of your cache to 5 - 10 MB anyway), allocate the
web browser application itself (Netscape, Internet Explorer) as much
memory as you can, etc etc.

There were a few inquiries asking why the movie stops apparently before
the end. A most likely cause is that you have not allocated enough memory
to your browser. I did a couple of experiments, Netscape 2.02 requires 9
MB, Internet Explorer requires 10 MB, all that on my Mac. I don't have
Windows, but the memory requirements should be about the same. Of course,
if you can allocate an additional couple of MBs, that's even better.

And no, I can not reduce the file size of the movie. I did the project in
a couple of phases. The very first phase produced a movie file size of 3.8
MB that was subsequently reduced by a factor of 5, down to the present 759
KB. It is not just the sound track that I took out, I also took out visual
content, the only visual effects left that are posted on the web are the
zoom of the titling and the zoom and revolution of the globe. If I took
out more, just to reduce the file size, then it does not make sense
anymore to do this as a multimedia. I might as well do an animation like
"The Witch" which also has motion and color, with a file size of only 29
KB.

I can't explain more in a short article to a newsgroup, there are tons and
tons of literature free for grabs posted everywhere on the web, just do a
search with a search engine like Infoseek, Yahoo, Webcrawler, etc. I
myself did not spend a single penny (apart from download time).

There was a comment saying that *any* kind of sound ought to be added,
well I added a MIDI file to the same page where the movie is, not quite
what I wanted to do, but at least you can listen to some background music
during the long download time of this big movie file  :-)
