Yeah - this is not your average compressed file - this was compressed using
gzip - the zip program created by GNU. You'll need gunzip to uncompress it.
If you don't have gunzip at your site, you can get it via anonymous ftp from
various places (can't think of any off the top of my head).

It's called gzip and gunzip (sorta like pkzip and pkunzip for DOS). Try this: gunzip filname.gz That should do it. :) DJ
What do you do with files ending in .zip, .sit, or .asc?? I've been wondering. Usually for .gz files, if I'm getting them from anon ftp, I do this: spot file I want file.gz and type get file without the .gz and it does all the work for me. Usually.
