Nice bit of colorized ascii from the dragon posted before.

That was actually Faux_Pseudo executing the signature. I'd guess it was
a joke

Someone had to make one. If I could have gotten away with runing the
headers I would have done that too.

I only have two login shells on my system so I didn't see motd very
often. So instead I when I found out about rt[0] I went and added
a variation of this to my ~/.xinitrc:

/usr/X11R6/bin/root-tail -g 165x8+001+595 -font fixed \
/home/faux/.fortune,cyan,'FORTUNE' -reload 20 &

And this in my crontab:
*/5 * * * * /usr/games/fortune -a > /home/faux/.fortune

This way I can always see new fortunes.

That works. Well not for me but for you. Blackbox doesn't support
(and I am anti-mouse so I don't use) icons. I only have two terms up
at any time since I basically use one for each computer I am on and
you script pics the fortune at the start of an xterm which isn't going
to do much good if one never finds them self with the need to open a
new term.

I have an alternative: a fortune in your titlebar. I wrote this because
all "xterm"s look the same in my icon manager, and it's a useful way to
tell them apart as well as to read fortunes.

#!/usr/bin/perl -w

undef $/;
$_ = <F>;
s/[\t\n]/ /g;
s/\r//g;
close(F);

push(@a, @ARGV);
exec(@a);
