I'm new at ASCII

Hello everyone, if I didn't already say hello, "hello".I just want to know:
when everybody posts a picture/ASCII work here, do they do it directly to the
post? Or do you/they make it on first a word processor, and THEN copy and
paste it here? And if they do copy and paste it here, do you have to fix it
when you copy it since it was a different font? or will it be more visible to
others if you just leave it the way it is, no matter how bad it looks to
yourself (?)
