Well, why did it take you until the second edition of AGTTSWU to figure 
out that Palpy had nothing to do with the Clone Wars?  I thought that was 
pretty clear in the original tril.  (actually ANH).  Remember what Leia's 
message to Ben was:  "General Kenobi, years ago you helped my father in 
the Clone Wars.  Now he begs you in his struggle against the Empire. 
..."  If the FOTR was a direct result of the CW's then why didn't Leia 
say something like, "... Again he needs you in his struggle against the 
Empire. ..." ?  Why would the Emperor have allowed one of his major enemy's 
offspring, Leia, to become a Senator (assuming Bail was involved in a full 
scale war against Pal. which is later known as the CW's)?  I mean, even 
if he allowed Bail to live in shame, why allow his daughter to have power 
of any kind ( even if she's out-voted by the rest of the Senate) ?  No 
resistence is better than useless resistence.  These are just some plot 
holes I see in the theory that the FOTR is a direct consequence of the CW's.
