If my historical knowledge is accurate September 1993 was the month
that the newsgroup alt.ascii-art was created by Joel Furr.
I recall my delight when I discovered the new group in early October
1993 after months of snippets from the rec.humor newsgroup and odd
postings elsewhere.
To celebrate the a.a-a birthday I intend to repost some of my
personal favourites collected in the first year.

Actually, Ed has revealed that he posted it on the author's behalf,
because she was too nervous to post it under her own name.
I think this picture is splendid because Kitty looks dynamic,
alive and even 3-D.
