Where are your brains? You need more depth and more intelligence. Common
sense would be nice as well.

Come on, do you have to smash every single piece of work? Show us some of
your art!

Hey that is a classic.
It wud be really nice if the large fish turns around (within the frame) and
becomes smaller as it goes around the castle.
Really liked yur jmov.

This animation is a great idea! If it was a little bit longer it would
make a cool screensaver.

BTW: Please don't add a filter and heater to it - for the animation it
is ok the way it is now (Nobody cares about people who write one line
per posting and 10 postings per day anyway).

I have a vision with this fishtank: Every ascii artist could add one
fish (or a different event) to the animation. It would grow and become
more and more interesting :)

Hey great idea! Are there any ascii-screensaver available yet?

I had thought to have the big fish come back, and as it goes by have the little one
dash out and nip at it, I still might. I like your idea too.

Interesting idea..... but can you paste together multiple animations?
That could be very interesting.

Nice work...

Ignore the other fishes that are either too skiny or too fat.
This fish aquarium rocks...

I do not get much time to really diddle or make ASCII Art, i do that
in between spare time...(very rare) so I know the efforts that go into
making of this.

I hope a few others can LEARN to appriciate the time that goes into it

Now, for the Bitchy part.... ;) <evil grin> How about some ASCII music
to go with the ASCII animation, then it is complete ASCII Multimedia...

How's that for a thought ;)

?:)

A JMOV is a asciimation .. duh ..

> Now, for the Bitchy part.... ;) <evil grin> How about some ASCII music

There is no such thing as ASCII music .. but if you could place a control
command in a JMOV frame that would execute javascript functions then you could
trigger sound effects and midi-music .. and other stuff like rolling credits,
DHTML curtains etc..

> There is no such thing as ASCII music ..

Well, someone could create it. All I'd would have to be would be something
like a really small software synth that can read ascii-files and create some
kind of music from it. Sorta like mini-midi =)

the sound of bubbles might be fun. But I've always found that the most
wonderful thing about watching fish is the ability to hear the music
of the spheres. If you added electronic music, then that music might
be no longer available.

What WOULD be cool is if the fishes' tails moved as they swam through
the tank.

yep ... that's another one of those ascii-art secrets again

it appears that the readers here already know that 'jmov'
is synonymous with ascii-animation (telepathy ?)

def:
a .jmov extension is a javaplayer v1.x ascii-animation file

using a java-capable web-browser load the page and wait until the
applet fully loads and stops ... then press the 'play' button

it is animated text done with a JavE tool so, "Jmov"
might call it ASCIImation, or aniSCII.

go here: http://www.bluedwarf.net/mikechat/jmov/fishtank.htm

use M$-IE or Netscape, Netscape you might have to hit RELOAD.

Here's my fish, drawn in JavE and compressed it (i wish i could tell JavE
the percentage with which to shrink the pic), this is what i managed to come
up with:

Well... Not quite =) Might try to write an Ascii-Midi-Editor though =)

Don't worry - this feature is already finished for the next release. It
will not work as good as you ob-ascii example, but I am quite amazed how
good it works. You will be able to scale to any width/height from 1x1 to
double the size from the original.
This could also be a good effect for Ascii animations (jmovs). Here is
an example:

The result depends on the style the image has been painted in. Line
style compressions will sometimes not look that good. Another example:

The snow dancers from jjs do not scale so good - but I think it still is
a good state to start with if you want to change the size of an image.
BTW: Of course you can change width/height independently.

As I already said most of the new features for the next release are
finished, but some very important things do not work now and so I have
to fix them. Unfortunately I have very few spare time at the moment. I
will try to finish the next release as soon as possible. Stay tuned.

Great! This encourages me to try to send a wish-list to Bill Gates, too,

Pay attention to the thread. Surely your newsserver doesn't drop that many
messages.

Actually he was talking about drsquare not MJP. MJP posted a pic and
drsquare commented on it and then nILS(?) made that comment at the top
of the quoting.

* The server I normally use used to keep messages for two days
(at the moment it doesn't seem to keep them at all, but that's
a different story). Many threads are longer than that.

* One shouldn't have to "pay attention to the thread". One should
be able to delete read messages without having to worry about
back-tracking to figure out who wrote what.

* People sort the messages in different ways (and not everybody
  uses "threading").

* Killfiling...

* Crossposting...

All these things (and probably a few others as well) affect how well one
can "pay attention to the thread". Just because *you* happen to see a
"thread" there doesn't mean everybody else will, or that it will look
the same as it does in your news reader.

Snipping the attributions is rude. Please don't do it.
