      It may have made it to tty tape, but I think the first copy was an
      early attempt by some Canada college students (Toronto, I believe),
      to take a tv picture and digitize it.  They had a Mona Lisa that 
      was 2 pages wide (132 characters) and 6 pages high.  There were
      about 8 images that made it to my college (on punch cards) via a 
      friend of the developers.
