Hi, In order to make JavE 6.0 the best JavE ever, I decided to release milestone versions as often as possible. Milestone 1 (6.0M1) can now be downloaded from: http://www.jave.de/developer/jave_6.0_M1.zip (1144kB) Requirements: JRE 1.4 or greater installed The current milestone release should be just as stable as the official 5.0 version. The changes are mainly concentrating on the user interface. Here are a few notes about what's new: - I have removed most old AWT components by state-of-the art Swing widgets. - Dialog layouts have been improved for most dialogs. - The FIGlet engine has been replaced with the improved one from my JFIGlet project. The user interface however is still the same and will most likely be replaced in the next milestone. - The "thumbnail browser" has been changed completely. - fixed a bug where some dialogs used proportional fonts with JRE 1.5 Let me know about any bugs or inconveniences you find. Ideas for improvements are also welcome. Cheers, Markus

To get this one sorted out quickly, can you please check if this still happens with: http://www.jave.de/developer/jave_6.0_M1a.zip Many thanks, Markus

(One that every developer runs into when switching from AWT to Swing...) I fixed it and also fixed some repaint problems in the Image2Ascii dialog (some of the repaint problems still exist with JRE1.4 - but that's scheduled for the next milestone): http://www.jave.de/developer/jave_6.0_M1b.zip Markus
You should make a JNLP descriptor (Java Web Start) so we could try it very easily (plus you could handle the new versions automatically.) BoD
