What you need is a fixed-width font! :)
I`m sorry, but I don`t recognise your newsreader`s name so I don`t know
what OS you are running...
On Win95/3: FixedSys
Courier New
Lucida Console
Courier
Topaz New
Monotype.com
On Amiga: Topaz (in the ROM of the machine)
Courier
Other fonts I remember but don`t know where they come from: Monaco,
Terminal (But not the Win95 version!)
Any font that makes these two lines the same length should be ok:
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
and a test picture:
|||||
| o o |
| > | .--- Can you see me ok?
| \_/ | ____/
\___/
__| |__
(It`s my ascii 'portrait')
Hope this helps...

You're using OE. It rips up leading spaces. The solution is to put an
extra space before everything. Dig the sig, man, it'll tell you. ;)

Not quite... you'll notice that my sig has been contorted quite a lot; what seemed to fix it for me with OE was putting an extra space before everything. > ||||| > | o o | .--- What about this time? > | > | / > | \_/ | ----' > \___/ > __| |__ >/ \_/ \ Quoted it looks fine. ||||| | o o | .--- What about this time? | > | / | \_/ | ----' \___/ __| |__ / \_/ \ This usually gets distorted. ||||| | o o | .--- What about this time? | > | / | \_/ | ----' \___/ __| |__ / \_/ \ Is this?
