Evolution - an ASCII animated short film

Last weekend I released my first ASCII animated short film (to be
perfectly honest, it's not completely animated - it's like a mix of
an animation and a slideshow). It won the technology video compo
at the Alternative Party 2008.

I drew all the frames by hand in JavE, except that the Evolution text
and the transition frames are made with the help of Figlet, because I
was short on time.

I would have made the video more "lively" had I had more time - e.g.
the Aibo was supposed to be animated.

Great themes and very tight drawings with good iconography.

Thanks. It's always nice to get feedback (and of course positive
feedback is all the better). I posted it on DA too, but have got no

Nice job. The typewriter image stood out as the best, a nice easy one
to animate, too.

Thanks. My favorite was the bandwagon, but sadly it wasn't animated.
The typewriter turned out quite nice, but I don't think it was all
that easy to animate for me. I have problems drawing anything without
a reference and I could not find a video or a GIF animation of a
typewriter. So, had to recall back 19 years, when I last used one. :P
