I think I have it fixed now.  BTW not everyone saw that many.
I think that most servers probably killed them because they were too
alike.  

I ran my tests (of which you saw the tail end) and came to only one
conclusion: Some how, and I have no idea how, despite all that we hold
true about what can and can not happen in this world, my system had
managed to start running a second instance of crond.  And maybe three
for a little while.  The problem should be fixed.

I have a solution...
Instead of automating the farts, one could simply surf to the site
(using a computer), copy the fart and paste it into a usenet post...

What we have here is a fun situation, my system had its issues which I
resloved.  

Apparently at the same time asciiartfarts.com had its own issues.  The
fart didn't update for 3 days.  No new farts even though the site said
it had 107 in queue.  

So  I did the unthankable.  I sent an email to the address listed on
the page with the following text:

The site says there are 107 queued farts but the fart hasn't updated
in too many days.  Please resolve.
----    

By the time my lunch break came around (now) the situation had been
resolved.  As expected I recived no reply.

So the BFGS should end and everything should be back to normal.
