 "American standard code for information interchange" :->  the list 
 of standard codes which all modern keyboards have (important, because
 we need to stick to standard letters not nonstandard extra ones if
 a wide variety of equipment is being used).

Welcome to the group Bets.
ASCII is an acronym for American Standard Code
for Information Interchange.

Give it a try... instead of typing a letter or message
on your computer, try to "type" a picture.  That's
how most of us do it.  If you're interested, I do have

If you have IE4.0+, you can have some fun draggin the
characters around on a grid to make an ASCII picture.

ASCII stands for "American Standard Code for Information Interchange". It's a big
technical name for all plain ordinary text you see in newsgroups and sometimes on
the web. The only characters that can be used in ascii-art are pretty much what
you find on your keyboard, so (that little box, and Agent doesn't even let me do
it) doesn't work, because it doesn't show up the same on everyone's computer.

ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange, and it

the ASCII Character set, as follows:

Any of these characters may be used in ASCII Art.

To do ASCII Art, all you need is somewhere to type text into. Most people
use a Text Editor (eg Notepad, Emacs, Ed) for ASCII Art, but It's also
possible to type it straight into your newsreader, email program or other
multi-line text box of some kind.
