Hello all!
  My children's school now has an email account and I thought that it 
would be nice for them to have a pelican (school mascot) in ascii.

Ed, I doubt that you have your address set up right. You probably 
need to set it to: Eto...@worldnet.att.net

In any case, this is supposedly a pelican from Juergen Jakubowski.
