There seem to be two obvious advantages to HTML postings...
Colour, and the guarantee that the end-user sees your ascii in the Font that you created it in.
Many compatibility disadvantages, though, I guess...
What percentage of you see this ASCII correctly?

NOT pretty! And then some people like me see this : .. ABSOLUTELY nothing ! Html is considered "illegal" to use on the usenet (and should be for mail as well IMO) My ISP seems to agree .. Their server removes ALL html postings .. If it had'nt been for Andrew and VK i would never have seen what you wrote. Post in text please.

And uses a "Newsreader" that is the same as (or at least very similar to) yours. Apart from that *HTML* isn't meant to be a typesetting language, either. It's for structuring text. What the text actually looks like is *entirely* up to the interpreting program.
