Sometimes, somewhere, in article <2p7grm$hg...@usenet.ins.cwru.edu>, Glenn W. Bernasek <dd3...@cleveland.Freenet.Edu> scribed: > >Isn't it amazing? Ascii art files can be greater than 180 lines, >and some articles seem to be as long as the "Great American Novel". >And yet there is quibbling over .sigs that are over 4 lines long! >Am I missing something here? I don't really see the difference >between an ascii text article or drawing and an ascii text .sig. >So long as it ends in "###" its a single posting --- isn't it? Well Glenn, just remember that some people see articles and sigs as two separate things. I don't see such a big difference. Eitther one has an equal opportunity to be entertaining and informative, or a big waste of bandwidth. I've seen some sigs that are better than the content of the average post. And I've seen the opposite. I just think that rules like sigs shouldn't be over four lines long are a bit arbitrary. There have been some posts that would have benefitted from such a rule. -- _--_ ____ . || || ||_ _ /:\ || || || | (/_ bob...@gagme.wwa.com /;:.\ ||__. _ //;:. \ ~ || /'\\< \,,._-_ /'\\ /'\\,._-_ /'\\ \\ \\ \\ ///;:.. \ || || /-|| || || / || || || || || || || __--"////;:... \"--__ || || (( || || ||/ || || || || || || || --__ "--_____--" __-- ,-___- \\,/ \/\\ \\, \\,/ \\,/ \\, \\,/ \\//\// """--_______--"""

How many times have: roses, Beavis and Buthead, globe.vt, etc been posted, and everyone gets sick of seeing them over and over. The same goes for sigs. There's no denying that the globe.vt file was rather cool, but if it were to be attached to every single post by a certain person... Variety is the key! Row.
