at the moment i'm writing some dos-rpg, and i need some different title
screens. the title of the game is DOWN and you can either do some tag
or a picture of some dungeon-like stuff. but remember, it has to be
dos-ascii, so you may have to post txt or ans files directly to me.

here's an expample what a friend has already done for me:
[its a bit abstract, but if you look at it some minutes, you may
recognize the tag]

I think the ascii we do here is a sub-set of the "dos-ascii" you
do. This means that you should be able to copy straight from here
to your program, but not necessarily the other way around. :)

I take it the line-object in the middle is meant to say "DOWN"?
No, I don't think I can see that (but I suspect I'm not *meant*
to be able to see it, so I guess it's OK). :)

Of course, I have to add something... 8-)

[assuming the size must be exactly like the example]

(i've just enhanced your lil dagger to some phallus-symbol-king-
size sword)

not bad, cool work. you can do other ones if you like, the game
will have multiple titlescreens changing randomly anyway.

Was your friend by any chance a trader back in the early '90s when the Amiga
was still regarded as The Computer of Choice?

thats the point. special "line"asciis are translated to "+","-" or "|"
signs
ex:
               +-------+
             +-++-----+++   +----+
      +------++-+ ++  +++--++--++--+
     ++------+  ++  --+++  --++------+
+   + +--+ ++      --    +-+ +-++++
+---                   +- ++++   +
+   + ++   ++-+ ++        ++   ++++---
     +++ +-+ +++-----+          ++   ++++   +
      +-+  +--++-----++--+   +-   ++  +++
        +--++--+     +--++---+   +++--+++
        +----+           +-----++--++----+
                               +----+

in the dos version, its very easy to read, cus it consists of
simple outlines, but now you might vaguely guess the the "W" and
the "N"

it took me three whole days to recognize it tho ;)

nope the size is [80x50]. the example isnt meant to fill the screen,
hence the size. your pic is nice, but i think it shall fill the whole
screen.

cool work,
but forget about the frame and concentrate on the letters, make them
bigger, more detailed, and it'd be perfect. you may add a small
signature, or initials of yours to the pic, i will keep them.

Ahyeah. Seeing that oldskool stuff really makes me nostalgic.. :-) I'll have
to look for all the ansi-collections I saved on my Amiga's HD..

Will someone please point me to a Windows .fon-editing program?-) I want real
Windows BITMAP versions of Topaz and especially Pot-Noodle, the #1 ansi
viewing font for the Amiga.. Or even the specs, I may be able to cook up a
.font to .fon-converter. :-)
