The easiest way to point anyone to ASCII art is to send them to
dejanews.com and read the ALT.ASCII-ART newsgroup from there. They use
fixed-width fonts for their postings. Most news readers should be set to at
least one f-w font for this page.

Courier New for me.

I meant Web Browser, not News Reader.

Finally, I set the proportional font to courier new as well as the
fixed on on by browser, shut it down and restarted and now can read
the newsgroup OK. Seems the browser is determined to use the
proportional font to read no matter what.

Thanks (I'll check out dejanews in the morning)

You should also not post to newsgroups in HTML format. If you use Outlook
Express, select "Plain Text" from the "Format" menu in the post you are
writing.

Reading the FAQ (posted regularly here) is also a good place to start. See
Veronika's site at http://www.ascii-art.com !

Go for Lucida Console... Works for me :o)

As for convincing Outlook Express to use it... well, that's a toughy if it
won't stay on Lucida Console. I have heard in the past of certain ISPs
implementing defaults that are reinstated each time a browser/email program
is started, but I can't help you with that bit.
