sorry for not crediting joan for the base idea.

I tinkered with bits & pieces from various sources to build
a tropic scene and lost the credit refs to the unmodified bits

anyone have any further improvements to suggest?  It's minus
17 celsius, that's about zero fahrenheit, outside this morning!
Ascii tropic scenes are a *lot* warmer!
