Actually I have two. First let me say that I have been lurking your group
for several months and am continuously amazed at all the talents. I have
never contributed anything because I don't really know anything about how to
do any of this and just enjoy browsing. Well now I would like to give it a
shot.
How would you guys suggest a total beginner with not a lot of art talent
begin something like this? Is there any sites that tell you how to start?
ASCII for Dummies or something?

Also, I would like to find a jester for a signature. The ones I've run
across have been to large for what I want. I found one cute one, but it was
a bear jester. But I don't want a bear. And the more feminine the better. It
would be much appreciated. Thanks for any of your help in advance.

Hi,
I would like a bit ascii art that I could use for for my signature. What
I am hoping to have is something that I cannot even describe very well,
much less have a chance at creating. From what I have seen here, I don't
think it would be all that difficult for those who post here. There is
some amazing work in this group! What I would like is something like the
swirls that would come out of a magic wand, and then be able to attach
my name to it. I did a web search and the closest thing I could find was
this:
http://www.art.com/asp/sp-asp/_/NV--1_1843_1905_7556/PD--10059835/SZ--2/posters.htm

I hope this link is good. What it should show is picture of Harry Potter
with his wand and swirls coming out of it. I would like something
similar to the swirls, though maybe with a bit more to it. The wand is
optional. I don't have a lot to offer in return, but I am pretty decent
at web searches for information on medical conditions or legislation,
(I'm the legislative coordinator for a disability group) song lyrics,
sources of quotes, historical sites and things like that. If someone
needs a search for info in any of those, or other areas, I would be glad
to help out! Thank You in advance...

Hi, Thank you for your help! . Actually I can use a couple at least. This one is very
nice and will work for personal e-mails. For posting to newsgroups, I think somewhere
around the standard of four (maybe 6 lines) up and down and maybe up to a quarter of the
page long would be best. I'm curious about how you do this. Do you use just the standard
keys and have an idea where things should go? Or is there a program you work with. When I
tried fooling around with it before, it always seemed like my lines were too far apart.
Of course, that was probably the least of my problems!<smile> I don't think I have the
artists imagination to place stuff where they need to go to make an image. Anyhow, thank
you again!

Oh, and I do have do have fixed width font on my preferences. For some reason though when
I click on reply to a message, I have to choose again, and the default is variable width.
On my screen, your work appears "off" in this reply. It looks correct however on the
newsgroup.

Thank you, that's really cute! Can these be enlarged or reduced
automatically by me by my reducing the size of my fonts on my computer?
This is fascinating...

The default should be set to a fix width font.

I was thinking this was something that goes on a cover.
