Correction needed

This message is dedicated to the true ASCIIers, so if you feel like one,
please read on.
There is an on-line collection of hacker slang/speech/etc called `The
Jargon File'. I don't know how many of you are familiar with it, but in my
humble opinion it is the basic must-read for all, who are concerned with
computers. This lexicon has a paragraph on ASCII-art, which mentions the
newsgroup rec.arts.ascii, which has been dead for quite a time. Correct me
if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen one lonely post there. So if you feel
like I did, then write a letter to Eric Raymond <es...@snark.thyrsus.com>
who is the current volunteer editor of the File, and ask him kindly to
correct this mistake, because he needs several different remarks to do so.
Thank you for your attention.
ps: the File can be found at various locations, just search for `Jargon
File' `version 4.1.4' or you can have a look at it for example here:

I'm sorry, but how old is your Jargon-File?!? Mine has alt.ascii.art mentioned in it. This isn't really right either ;) but it definitely isn't rec.arts.ascii as you meant. Go and sit in the corner ;-P So I think we should write ESR nevertheless - for it's a.a-a and not a.a.a ;) > ps: the File can be found at various locations, just search for `Jargon > File' `version 4.1.4' or you can have a look at it for example here: > http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/misc/jargon/html/index.html *hmmm* Strange, my installed jargon file is 4.0.0. Either it was miscorrected in later versions or you have an even older version than this? On the other hand, I just updated a week or two ago, so I don't really know where the difference in the version-number comes from? Have fun! obASCII: /\ V/##\ V V####V /V###V#\ <#V##V###> \V#V##mm m VV#i#m m m V\#i/m m m \/ This should resemble the Vim[1] logo, but somehow it isn't that good *scratches* Maybe I should just try a bigger version, or take the .xpm's *smirks* [1] <URL:http://www.vim.org/> -- Gerfried Fuchs <URL:mailto:alf...@innocent.com> <URL:http://alfie.ist.org/alfie/>
