Wow, these medium resolution gif conversions sure look better than the usual
low resolution ones. There are also high resolution ones that look even better
(e.g. the Einstein pic with one of the eyes in close up, I don't have the URL
handy.) 

Although at these higher resolutions, there is little difference whether one
would take ascii characters or grayscale/color squares as the picture elements ...

My point is the observation captured in the capping phrase below. Contrast
this capping phrase with the fact that the vast majority of ascii pics are low
resolution pics.
