MIDI and animation

I received a couple of comments, indicating that putting MIDI (music) and
animations on one and the same webpage tends to overload older computers
and/or older web browsers. It tends to make the MIDI stutter and/or the
animations choppy. I have just turned off the MIDI on most of my webpages
in favor of better performance of the animations. (I did some testing with
the oldest versions of web browsers that I happen to have kept on my hard
disk, the computer that I happen to have, is itself pretty good).

I am obviously not perfectly happy with this situation, but true
multimedia on the web with short download times and without requiring the
latest and the greatest of computers and web browsers (i.e. having all the
goodies at the same time) does not seem realistic at the moment.
