What is (generally) the accepted standard when it comes to word wrapping ascii, or text messages in general? Is it preferable to set art at 80 columns, 72 columns or something in between?

I haven't (myself) come accross any mail prgrammes etc that can't handle this, though I am sure there are some that word wrap at under columns.
