My email/usenet provider has told me that I must change my sig from its 
present 8 lines to 4 lines.

Well, it pisses me off, since I have what I consider to be a beautiful 
sig, but here goes what I may put as my regular one for a while:

Gee, Sven, what will you do to people for misdemeanor?  As long as we're 
talking about being sticklers for "net rules", you might bear in mind 
that advocating violence is frowned upon with much greater severity than 
any concerns about .sig size.

Gee, let me guess.  Did someone by any chance actually push this whole
sig issue by writing to your provider to complain?  Did you ask your
provider?  It would be interesting to know.

were you, I'd change providers.

"Then shoot him!" is pretty specific; I don't see options for 
interpretation--unless you're going to cop out and say you meant "shoot" 
with a camera.  

Insulting people's ISPs is pathetically childish.  I suspect I've been on 
the net longer than you have, and I really don't have any more patience 
with your arrogance.  You personify the term "net Natzi".  If you 
continue to haunt this group, we may have to change the name to 
<alt.asscii-art>.  I think nearly everyone here would be grateful if you 
would replace your chair-keyboard interface.

Why do they care, and what can they do about it anyway?  Just store your 
sig in macros and do it that way...

I don't like long sigs anymore than the next guy, but it should be your 
choice...how does this person know about your sig anyway?  has he/she 
been reading your mail?
