Question: Are there GIF or TIFF to ASCII converters?

While browsing through the different articles in this newsgroup I do wonder if some of the pictures are made with conversion software for GIF images. If not then there are many creative people on Internet. If there is software to converse from a gif or tiff image to a ascii file could somebody please mail me a ftp-site where I can optain such a program. Thanks in advance, Andra Waagmeester
