I have two excelent GIF -> ASCII converters but I am looking for a 
program that can preserve the color-information from the GIF and produce
HTML output with the <FONT COLOR="rrggbb"> tag. Alternatively a GIF -> ANSI
converter can do the job (anyone know a ANSI -> ASCII Converter ?).

What are those two programs you have called?  Know where i can get
them?

Just remove all the escape sequences, and and convert the forbidden
charactors to ASCII ones.
