This is an instant classic, IMO. It's one of the few NB strips that
do different things well at the same time. Well, in my opinion. It
connects two parallel story arcs, it's self-referencing, it refers
to Star Wars, it's a combo joke... On top of that, it works.
Sometimes I wonder if people totally despise the strips I like. :)

Will the monster pounce on NB? Will the monster continue to > defy gravity for the rest of time, allowing NB to walk away unscathed? > will NB turn suddenly and vanquish the monster? Your sense of humour seems very strange to me. I've always thought of a joke as something that ties up all the loose ends. The punch line, IMO, should tie everything together in an unexpected way. I hate things that leave the reader/viewer asking questions. It doesn't strike me as the author trying to promote discussion and provoke thought, it just strikes me as plain lazy. It's like songs that fade out because the "composer" couldn't be bothered to write a decent ending. > Was it funny? Mildly.... For example, even though we don't know why people do certain things in reality, it's more or less expected that we find out sooner or later in a story, because otherwise the character is just inconsistent and ill conceived. It's all part of that "truth is stranger than fiction" stuff. > Ideally, each strip should be a self-contained story that isn't > necessarily dependant on the reader having read the previous one.
