Whoops, Sprout and I had a chat about this and we kinda thought that it would be better to
only have one ascii chat room. That way, people would be together and not hunting for eachother
in various chat rooms. I got a chat room on my sight but decided not to have it be an ascii
chat room just for that reason. I think that since sprout had the original Idea, we should make
his the "official" alt-ascii newsgroups chat room.

I went to both sites this eve... I posted on Veronica's.. and
got booted off of Sprout's twice. It very well could be my
system-- I like the idea that I have the direct URL to VK's
site. Personally, I don't like frames nor having to follow
link to link to link to get to a certain site that I want. But
that's just my opinion. Kevin- do you have a direct URL
to the chat? I'll give it a go again.

I don't know about "the original idea", I think somebody else (Martin?)
had the same idea even earlier.... As for my interest in this, well, I
just wanted to see if I could make a chat room... =]

try:

http://mercury.beseen.com/chat/rooms/i/6457/

(It works much better if you turn off image loading before you go there,
and I'm not sure but I think that automatic uploading mechanism they use
there may be a Netscape-only thing...(?))

Heh.. Was it difficult?

Why don't we make an "#ascii-art" -channel in IrcNet? Irc is a lot
better than any web based chat can ever hope to be. I could maybe
supply a bot to help keep order.

Well as the original IRC client by Jarkko Oikarinen (all great things
come from Finland :^) was written in un*x, I'd say it does.. :-) All
good Windows-based clients also allow you to choose the font.

.. And this post is *not* supposed to be a start for a Sweden vs.
Finland-war! There's nothing I hate more than that. :-/

Yup. The only problem I discovered when posting some asciis on IRC, was
that all lines starting with / are treated as server-commands, and thus
not displayed. So inserting a col of .'s is a good idea..

Interesting.... now all I need to do is figure out how to start/use that
stuff... (and I also realise that it is a bit "dangerous"... i.e. you
can "get caught" in it and never want to stop chatting...) :)

That's two (of which the first only says "192.31.7.244: -Sprout: I'z
back", just like it did two days ago).

And a third.

And a fourth (<learning resistance>I guess I really have to learn this
IRC stuff</learning resistance>).

And here's a fifth:

http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/asciichat/

(It doesn't require anything fancier than a browser. Older browsers
won't be able to see the text colours, but the text should still be
_readable_ and any ascii pictures should come through just fine. I just
checked it in xmosaic 2.7b2, which is an *old* browser, and it works
quite well there)

I don't know. I tried your page but it didn't work (of course). Java?
Well, I found out that my browser works sooooo much better with java and
javascript turned off (it doesn't crash nearly as often as before, and
many web pages load much faster). It would take something _very_ good to
make me turn it on again... 8]

All *my* quote headers have .--- infront, so I didn`t put it there.

I prefer my lovely sorcerynet <g> it`s a much nicer network with less users so
it therefore faster!

I need some ops for my channel ... so if you are gonna turn up I`ll see how you

I have never liked web based chat...even tho there are many web sites
where you can chat on IRC..

>See you,
>Martin

You do?...how come?..cause I definitly *don't* see you!
Actually, besides from me, no one is there at all...umm..

Anyways...I like IRCNet much better...
There's no services there, but then again...who needs them? :o)
I made #Cyberfriends there for about 2 1/2 years ago...and it has
becomed kinda big... :o)

Anyways...I made #Asciiart on IRCNet too...for those who wants to
visit... :o)

And if I'm not there, just ask in #Cyberfriends...cause if I am online
I'm definitly in there :o)

WOW this channel is REALLY populair on this weird net with
as much as (WOW AGAIN) 50 users (at the top that is..only 30
ppl there now) <G>

I've been here for 4 hours and 2 minutes now ..and how many have
visited?
1 person...and that person was *REALLY* in a hurry...couldn't
even say hi to him before he left (not only the channel, but the IRC
server...)

Is it me, or does it look empty in here?...
It's so quiet, I can hear my own echo...and THATS not easy in text ;o)
