JavE feature proposal.

It would be nice to have the capability to superimpose the drawing grid
over a graphical image. This would help hand-name image conversion. Or
is that option already around in JavE3 and I'm just missing it?

The same idea could also be applied in ASCII animation, rendering
the last N frames in shading gray under current frame (this is a
tecnique cartoonists use even today with software, I think). Oh, yes,
this is useful for 30+FPS ASCII animations. :)

It is .. and yes you are missing it.
Check out the watermark tool , or use the image to ascii convertor with
watermark turned on

Are you talking about the "platicbag technique" or "watermark"? It is
included in JavE for a very long time: Choose the Watermark tool from
the tool bar on the left - it is the tool second from the bottom (yes,
the one with the ugly icon - can anyone provide me a better one?). In
the options dialog you can then load an image to use it as watermark.
Move it around and scale it easily - you can also adjust brightness.
Switch to another tool to draw whatever you want, hit Ctrl-P or the
watermark button at the bottom of the editor to show/hide the watermark.
That's it.
Or are you looking for something else?

Regards,
Markus

Yep, I just didn't know it was called "watermark"! <:)
